The Pursuit of Joy

“The Pursuit of Joy” is a proposed collaboration between GonitSora.com and the Assam Academy of Mathematics. The project will span about 3 years and result in 5 book in the series focusing mainly on Olympiad mathematics. It has been long felt, the need for some standard problem solving textbooks in mathematics for the talented high school students in the markets of Assam. Through this initiative we plan to bridge this gap, and bring out some hidden jewels of mathematics for the students as well as the interested readers.

The plan for the 5 volume series is as follows:

Volume 1, coauthored by Pankaj Jyoti Mahanta and Manjil P. Saikia contains selected problems in Number Theory and Inequalities. This volume is complete and is of 75 pages. At present the book is going through the proof reading stage.

Volume 2, will be coauthored by Mahendra Mohan Das, Pankaj Jyoti Mahanta and Manjil P. Saikia and will contain selected topics from Algebra and Combinatorics. This volume is expected to be ready by beginning of next year and will be of about 200 pages.

Volume 3 will be a series of lectures written by experts from all over the world, aimed at introducing the techniques of problem solving in a more sophisticated way.

Volume 4 will be based on Geometry.

Volume 5, the last volume will be a very brief introduction to selected topics in higher mathematics.
