Title: Post Quantum Cryptography: Challenges, Opportunities and Beyond

Abstract: Recent years have seen significant strides in the development of quantum computers, which promises to usher in a new era for computing. However, with the advent of quantum computing, cryptography comes under serious threat, as most modern cryptosystems can be broken by quantum computers. In this talk we will discuss ways in which scientists are addressing this challenge.

About the Speaker: Dr. Shweta Agrawal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Madras. She did her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014, and then spent two years as a postdoc at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has been conferred with the prestigious Swarna Jayanti Fellowships for 2018-19, by DST, Govt of India. Her research interests lie in Cryptography and Information theory and she cares deeply about using technology to solve social problems.

The talk will be suitable for a general audience (college students are specially welcome), and will be held online via Zoom. It will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page.
