A Workshop On Probability from January 02 to January 10, 2014 is being organised by Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata in collaboration with Dept. Mathematical Sciences, Tezpur University, Tezpur.

The venue is Tezpur University.

The aim of the workshop is to introduce the fundamental concepts in certain key topics in Probability through lectures and tutorials given by a group of experts, in a manner accessible to final year M.Sc. students, Research scholars (at initial stage). It may be beneficial also to college/university teachers involved in teaching and/or research in Mathematics/Statistics in North East region.

Topics to be covered:

Following a brief and quick review of basic Probability theory, the main topics aimed to be covered are Simple Random Walk, Poisson Processes and Markov Chains.
